IT Scan: How independent is your organisation?


Times are changing rapidly, and we are all feeling the effects. Companies are having a hard time surviving and the continuity of many businesses is at stake, especially those which are dependent on their IT supplier or IT partner for custom-made solutions. Imagine if one of your IT suppliers goes out of business - what would that mean for your company? How dependent are you on your IT suppliers anyway?

 

JTeam has developed a IT risk scan service that maps out for you what the impact could be of one of your IT suppliers going out of business. We look at your IT setup from a technical, business and legal perspective, identifying the weak areas, and offering insights and practical advice on how to close the gaps.  During this scan, we will focus on the following topics (amongst others):

  1. Intellectual Property. Do you own your software (or source code)?
  2. Open Standards. Does your solution use Open Standards? If so, which ones? And what does this mean for you?
  3. Licenses. Many solutions are comprised of prefabricated components, which are often bought or are Open Source. However, each of these components might be licensed differently. We will investigate the different licenses and determine what this could mean for you
  4. General Conditions. Are you aware of the general conditions of your suppliers? Do you know what happens if your supplier can't fulfill their obligations?
  5. Software Architecture Review. We will quick-scan the design of your IT solution and will focus on maintainability, extensibility, flexibility and the use of best practices. 
  6. Source Code Review. We will review the source code (if available) and focus on consistency, documentation and general quality; all in order to understand how easy it will be to transfer it to a different partner.
  7. Technologies used. Which components and prefabricated solutions are being used or integrated? Which versions are they? Are they suffering security lacks or other flaws?
  8. Development process. How do you co-operate with your IT partners? What would be the consequence if one of your suppliers falls away unexpectedly?
  9. Hosting. Where is your software hosted and by whom? Are you dependent on the same supplier? And who maintains the contact with the external hosting provider? What are the termination clauses?
  10. Monitoring & Service Level Agreement. Who is responsible for monitoring your application(s) and infrastructure(s)? And in case your supplier does this for you; is this easy transferable to a different provider?
  11. Empowerment. How is knowledge shared between your organization and your suppliers? Is your staff experienced and trained enough to maintain and extend your software by themselves, or is a third party needed?
  12. Knowledge Management & Transfer. How is (non technical) knowledge being preserved within your organization? What about wiki, portals, documentation et cetera?

This scan is offered to you for a fixed price of EUR 8995,- excluding VAT and takes 5 days. If desired, we can adjust the activities in this scan according to your specific needs.
